Modern Cottage Bath Update

Today we have another exciting project to share with you! This was one we completed last year, but we thought it deserved a permanent spot on the blog because we love this modern cottage update so much. Keep on reading to see all the details for this adorable bathroom update.

Now for this project, this was a fun one. This bathroom was located inside this cute 1930 Tudor. It was loaded with potential, but it just needed some love. I for one, was happy to give this bathroom the modern cottage update it needed.

First off, let’s show you what this space looked when we started. As the primary bathroom for this growing family, it was in desperate need of an update.

The dated tile and wallpaper had to go, as did the upper cabinetry because the family didn’t feel they needed that much storage and it really made the space feel cluttered.

Also, we felt that the layout of the space made sense, but the finishes were in dire need of some modernization.

Since we didn’t plan on moving any plumbing or electrical, this project was planning on taking just a couple weeks. However, this 1930 home had different plans. Once we got into the walls, we found that most the electrical needed replaced due to its age, as did the sub-floor due to water damage.

This project ended up going down to studs, but this is sometimes what it takes to do things the right way. Once all the electrical and sub-flooring was repaired it was time to get to the fun stuff… the design.

The Design Elements...

For this growing family, they wanted something extremely durable for the flooring, so they opted for Luxury Vinyl Tile. This LVT has a beautiful marble look and comes in a modern 12×24″ size.

Next up, for the shower tile, we selected a beautiful Saloni Blue picket tile and accented it with a pale gray grout.

After tile, we moved on to selecting plumbing fixtures. We knew we wanted something modern, and these clients were set on a black finish. So, we landed on these fixtures by Pfister. Along with a 66″ soaking tub by Kingston Brass.

Bathtub, Shower/Tub Faucet, Vanity Faucet, Robe Hooks, Toilet Tissue Holder, Towel Ring

For the vanity, the customers opted for a single sink instead of a double to maximize counter space. This pale Paris gray vanity made for the perfect amount of color without distracting from the blue accents. See vanity here

As a last-minute decision, the clients decide they would like to add wallpaper above the wainscotting. They selected this best-seller from Serena and Lily in shade “Sky”. This added the perfect pop of blue to compliment the stunning shower tile.

Finally, for the part that everyone is here for… the after photos.

We couldn’t have been happier with this transformation. Heritage Builders took a dated, cluttered space and turned it into an adorable modern cottage oasis.
